Turkey has suffered raging inflation for several years so prices are up.
Waaaay up from what you have probably researched online.
Anything to do with tourism is quite expensive.
Entry to mosques, castles, palaces…expect to pay 25-50 Euro.
Alcohol, of course in a Islamic country, is expensive in shops and bars.
See header image, although this was at a pretty fancy restaurant in Goreme.
Train and bus tickets we bought were cheap and we seemed to pay what the locals paid.
Travel on a shared taxi (Dolmus), is slow but very cheap with most rides being no more than 50 tl.
At time of writing the exhange rate was 100 Euro = 3,400 tl.
We bought two sets of tickets to do the famous Dogu Express from ankara to Kars or Ezerum.
The first set in a sleeper compartment where we had to buy all the tickets got us to Kayeri.
In actual fact the Ankara to Kayseri train was a different Express because it’s time table suited us better.
From Kayseri we took a bus to Goreme to watch the balloons fly over the amazing landscape.
Then after a bus back to Kayseri we resumed our Dogu Express journey.
You’ll find prices for all those on the other posts.
